Rosemary Waugh is an award-winning art critic, journalist and copywriter specialising in theatre, dance and visual art.
Her work has been published in the New Statesman, TLS, Condé Nast Traveller, the Financial Times, The i, the Evening Standard, The Independent, Time Out, Art UK, The Stage and Dance Gazette.
On 1 September 2024, Rosemary became the Chair of the Critics’ Circle Drama Section and oversaw the first Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards to be held at the National Theatre in March 2025.
Running the Room: Conversations with Women Theatre Directors, a collection of interviews with leading female theatre directors working in the UK, was published by Nick Hern on 16 November 2023.
She is currently working on: Building the World: Conversations with Women Theatre Designers, a collection of interviews with the UK’s leading set, costume, lighting and sound designers. Due for publication by Nick Hern in late 2026.
